Steelpan Evangelistic Ministries

One-Way brings a Caribbean zeal through our cross-cultural steelpan outreaches. Team members are missionaries from the twin-island nation of Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies and the US  who voluntarily serve in outreaches throughout the Midwest.  Beginning in 2018 our steelpan / evangelism team began a partnership with Calvary Chapel York to reach out to various locations in  England.  The programs combine Caribbean Steelpan and traditional Gospel music to provide a platform from which to present the Gospel message.

Brief History of Steelpan

The steelpan is believed to be the only non-electronic, acoustic musical instrument invented in the 20th century. The first steelpan was invented during the time of World War II in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. The local musicians discovered that the 55-gallon oil drums discarded by U.S. forces stationed on the island worked as ideal metal for the creating instrument.

We love the history of the steelpan, as it parallels perfectly with the message we wish to share.  What was once considered useless and discarded was chosen and refined into a stunning instrument used to produce beautiful music.   The same can be said of each of us before we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. As new creations in Christ, we are refined for His glory and His great works which He has preordained for us to do.  It is a message of hope and grace that we want to share with all who are willing to hear: all to the glory of God.
